Because of my need for extra rest I have a lot more time to read. I was so happy to re-discover Becoming the Woman of His Dreams by Sharon Jaynes (one of the best thrift store purchase I've made!) I found this list under the heading of Twenty-Five Ways to Show Respect:
- Do not talk down to him.
- Do not talk badly about him to others.
- Do not check behind him to make sure he did something to your standards.
- Do not disregard his wishes.
- Do not ignore his requests.
- Do not laugh at his mistakes.
- Do not make him the brunt of your jokes.
- Do not compare him to other men.
- Do not complain about your finances or his abilities as a provider.
- Do not speak sarcastically or with verbal jabs.
- Do not roll your eyes when he makes a comment you do not agree with.
- Do not continually "have a better idea."
Instead:
- Talk with him in a pleasant tone.
- Speak highly or compliment him in front of others.
- Allow him to do tasks his own way and then thank him when he is finished.
- Value his opinions
- Support his decisions.
- Try to fulfill his requests.
- Thank him for providing for your family
- Allow him to make the final decisions
- Support him is his decisions, regardless of the outcome
- Avoid the words, "I told you so."
- Take care of your appearance.
- Ask his opinions about your clothes and hairstyle.
- Tell him you are proud of him.
